VINCENT VAN GOGH: THE GENIUS
Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) is one of the most famous Dutch artists of all time. His artistic activity lasted just ten years , from 1880 until his death in 1890.In any journey of my life , now it's become a staple , a quest, a step that inform me if in that place , where I am, there are works by the master , because the quality of his tireless worker and his passion have allowed him to produce , in that one decade , a body of work that might be envied by many artists much more long-lived . Van Gogh has left more than 840 paintings and more than 1,000 drawings, in addition to many watercolors , lithographs and sketches made on the letters.By VAN GOGH MUSEUM in Amsterdam MUSEE D'ORSAY Paris , at the MOMA in New York, where I realized my dream of admiring " Starry Night " one of the artist's masterpieces .
Subject of the representation is the landscape of the village, at night and in the hills in the background. It ' important to note the bell tower of the church , which is typical of Holland, the artist's home country . In fact, unlike many other works by van Gogh, Starry Night was painted from memory and not in the open air like he used to do .The composition of the painting is simple: the night sky occupies about two-thirds of the space of the canvas, while the remaining third is occupied by the village and the hills behind it . There is a strong contrast between the chaos of the sky and the peaceful order of the village. The cypress tree to the left creates a blazing connection between heaven and earth .From the point of view of the technique he uses pure colors , violent , contrasting with each other , without gradations and nuanced tonal passages . With precise strokes of yellow , orange and white , van Gogh makes the intense brightness of this night . The strokes follow the contours of the figures insistently , dilatandoli dramatically. Among the terrifying vortex of the night sky , the stars only appear as fixed points and , therefore , such elements around which may gravitate color and thought.Starry Night is not only the most famous painting by Vincent , but it is also one of its most frequently discussed with regard to its meaning and its importance .In the next trip , where I recommend you to follow me with real passion , I will go to HERMITAGE St Petersburg where there are other works of the master, as " SPECTATORS IN THE ARENA " of 1888 .Guys I assure you there will be no ' from getting bored , I guarantee YOUR APPEARS .
