VINCENT VAN GOGH

Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) è uno degli artisti olandesi più famosi di ogni tempo. La sua atti-vità artistica è durata appena dieci anni, dal 1880 fino alla sua morte avvenuta nel 1890.Van Gogh ci ha lasciato più di 840 dipinti e più di 1000 disegni, oltre a molti acquerelli, litografie e schizzi fatti sulle lettere.Van Gogh scrisse centinaia di lettere al fratello Theo, ad altri parenti e ad amici. Le lettere, oltre ad assolvere un’importante funzione
comunicativa, fungevano anche da valvola di sfogo. Attualmente esse sono una preziosa fonte d’informazione per la ricerca storico-artistica; infatti molto di quanto sappiamo della vita dell’artista, del suo retroterra, delle sue letture, di ciò che vedeva e pensava ci è noto grazie alla sua ‘autobiografia’: le lettere.
Come pittore Van Gogh era più che altro un autodidatta, che aveva imparato il mestiere in modo tradizionale con l’aiuto di libri, alcune lezioni seguite presso le accademie di Bruxelles

ed Anversa, le visite ai musei e i consigli di amici artisti. Il contatto con le correnti moderne della pittura francese lo spinse ad intraprendere nuovi esperimenti. Nel corso degli anni sviluppò un proprio, unico stile con pennellate espressive e colori limpidi, forti che avrebbe ispirato ed influenzato numerosi artisti delle generazioni seguenti.
Dopo la morte di Van Gogh molti subirono il fascino delle sue opere ma soprattutto della sua drammatica vicenda umana, con i suoi amori infelici, il mancato riconoscimento – secondo quanto l’artista si immaginava– dell’importanza del suo lavoro, la sua malattia ed il suicidio.
Il periodo parigino di Van Gogh è contrassegnato dallo studio, dal rinnovamento e dalla sperimentazione. Dalla primavera del 1886 abitò presso il fratello a Montmartre, nel quartiere degli artisti. Nell’atelier del pittore francese Fernand Cormon fece per alcuni mesi studi di statuette in gesso e disegni di nudo e di modelli. Lì incontrò giovani artisti come Paul Signac e Henri de Toulouse–Lautrec che condividevano i suoi ideali.
Nei due anni che trascorse a Parigi, Van Gogh dipinse ben 27 auto-ritratti. Non avendo denaro per pagare i modelli, utilizzò il proprio viso per sperimentare con il colore e la tecnica. Sotto l’influenza della pittura neoimpressionista, in quel periodo componeva i suoi quadri con piccoli tocchi e tratti di pennello in colori chiari, brillanti.La stanchezza della febbrile vita parigina e il desiderio di calore e tranquillità spinsero Van Gogh a trasferirsi nel febbraio 1888 ad Arles, una cittadina nel meridione francese. In questo luogo il pittore si lasciò ispirare dal paesaggio e dalla luce del sud e – come durante il suo periodo olandese – dalla vita in campagna. Dipinse gli alberi da frutto in fiore ed i campi di grano appena fuori città. Intanto continuava a coltivare l’ambizione di diventare un vero pittore di figure umane ed ad Arles trovò, dopo qualche ricerca, persone disposte a posare per un ritratto.
Nonostante la sua produttività ed i primi riconoscimenti ottenuti dalle sue opere, Van Gogh fu spesso molto abbattuto nel corso delle ultime settimane di vita ad Auvers. Theo, che con il suo stipendio manteneva la propria famiglia, il fratello e la madre, stava considerando la possibilità di licenziarsi ed iniziare un’attività in proprio. Vincent temeva un futuro incerto per tutti loro e scrisse a Theo di sentirsi un peso, per lui e per la sua famiglia.
Il 27 luglio 1890 Van Gogh si sparò al petto e morì due giorni dopo per le ferite riportate. Theo era presente alla sua morte. Sarebbe morto anch’egli sei mesi più tardi. I fratelli sono sepolti l’uno accanto all’altro nel cimitero di Auvers–sur–Oise.

LA FEBBRE DEL GIOCO

Parliamo di crisi generale,di crisi in ogni settore,ma esiste un settore che proprio non sente accusare questa problematica:il gioco d'azzardo.Anzi, proprio grazie alla crisi riesce a prosperare. Parliamo del gioco, un business milionario con incassi da capogiro, paragonabili a quelli di colossi industriali come Enel e Telecom. C'è chi ha tutto da guadagnarci e chi invece finisce sul lastrico. Tanti restano intrappolati nella rete: non più giocatori, ma malati. Dipendenti dal gioco, come da una droga. Statistiche alla mano, le categorie più esposte sono quelle più deboli.Esiste un mondo semisommerso, fatto di storie drammaticamente simili. Si comincia con l'euforia per qualche vincita, magari piccola, ma ritenuta comunque importante. E nell'immaginazione il gioco diventa la soluzione dei problemi, una scorciatoia per la fortuna. Ben presto però il quadro cambia: i soldi cominciano ad andarsene. Tanti e in fretta. Allora bisogna inseguirli, giocare di più, alzare la posta, nella speranza di riconquistare almeno il denaro perduto. Si crea così quel buco nero in breve tempo finisce per mangiarsi tutto: i risparmi di una vita, il lavoro, a volte perfino la casa, ma anche le amicizie e gli affetti familiari. Nonostante la vastità del fenomeno, nel nostro Paese la dipendenza da gioco è ancora un argomento tabù. La cura richiede tempi lunghi. «Questo tipo di patologie», puntualizza ancora Leopoldo Grosso, «si affronta con una terapia cognitivo-comportamentale. Bisogna lavorare sul sintomo, il gioco in sé, ma anche scavare più a fondo, cercare il disagio che sta dietro. Infatti quasi sempre il gioco è uno sfogo improprio, un modo per allentare una forte tensione emotiva, legata a situazioni lavorative o familiari pesanti. Il nostro percorso prevede anche una terapia di gruppo. Infatti tra gli effetti più devastanti del gioco c'è l'isolamento: improvvisamente il malato si ritrova ripiegato su se stesso, chiuso nel suo mondo. Noi cerchiamo di aiutarlo a ricostruire dei legami".
Io penso che questa vera malattia possa essere curata solo con una gran forza di volonta e una abnegazione molto forte perchè ti succhia dentro come un vortice.
